What the Mail Agent is

The Mail Agent gives one of your Mihu agents a real email address and lets it run the inbox end to end. It's not an auto-responder bolted onto a mailbox — it's the same agent that already handles your calls and chats, now reading email, writing replies in your tone, and carrying out what each message asks for.

Pick an agent, choose an address, connect — and it's live. From that moment, every message that lands gets read, answered, and acted on. An inbox that works itself.

Create an address & assign it to an agent

In the dashboard, open Apps → Mails and choose Add email address. There are three fields, and only one is required:

  1. Agent — pick which agent owns this inbox. Incoming mail to this address routes to this agent, so its knowledge, tone, and tools are what answer.
  2. Email address — type the part before the @ and it's live on @partners.mail.mihu.ai instantly. No mailbox to provision.
  3. From name (optional) — the display name recipients see, e.g. Demo Account or Acme Support.

Hit Connect email and the address appears in your Email addresses list — assigned agent, live status, and quick actions to re-assign or switch it off.

How sending & receiving works

Under the hood it's a full send-and-receive pipeline, not a forward-and-hope auto-reply. Here's the path every message takes.

Receiving a message

  1. Mail arrives at your address — on @partners.mail.mihu.ai or your connected domain.
  2. It routes to the assigned agent. The address is bound to one agent, so the right one always picks it up.
  3. The agent reads and understands it in full — the question, the context, the thread history — and pulls the right facts from its knowledge base with RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), so answers are grounded in your content, not guessed.
  4. It acts. Answer a question, book an appointment, look something up in a connected tool, or follow up later.
  5. It replies in-thread from your address, in your tone — or escalates to a human when one is genuinely needed.

Sending a message

The agent sends from the address you connected, using your From name and signature, and keeps the conversation threaded so replies come back to the same agent. It can start a new thread too — an outbound note, a confirmation, a reminder, or a follow-up after a call or chat.
